Why Drivers Choose BC Racing Coilovers

BC Racing coilovers hit a price-to-performance ratio almost no competitor matches. Each kit is fully rebuildable. Ride height adjusts via the shock body, not by compressing the spring. Most BC Racing coilovers accept Swift Springs and pillowball mount upgrades. Custom spring rates are available, and BC Racing custom-valves the dampers to those rates at no extra cost on most builds.

Every set of BC Racing coilovers sold by Coilovers.com is covered by the BC Racing North America two-year warranty. We are an authorized BC Racing dealer, with warranty support direct through BC Racing NA.

Short version: BC Racing coilovers deliver track-grade engineering at a street-friendly price. The BR Series, DS Series, ER Series, HM Series, RM Series, and ZR Series cover everything from daily drivers to dedicated race builds.

BC Racing Coilover Series Lineup

The BC Racing range covers six series. The BR Series is the most popular. Above the BR Series sits the DS Series, ER Series, HM Series, RM Series, and ZR Series, each adding capability for harder driving.

BC Racing BR Series coilovers, the daily-driver and light track BC Racing coilover

BR Series: Daily-Driver and Light Track BC Racing Coilovers

The BR Series is the BC Racing flagship. The BR Series is the right choice for street driving with occasional road course or autocross duty. The BR Series uses a mono-tube shock with linear piston damping. Every BR Series kit gives you 30 clicks of simultaneous compression and rebound. BR Series ride height adjusts independent of spring preload, so the driver picks how low or high the car sits without compromising shock travel. BC Racing describes its lower locking ring as a patented concave design that holds ride-height settings.

Most BR Series kits accept pillowball mount upgrades for sharper steering response. BC Racing front camber plates are available for fine alignment work. Custom spring rates and Swift Springs are available on most BR Series applications. The BR Series remains the most popular choice in the BC Racing range.

BR Series specs: Mono-tube shock. Linear damping curve. 30 clicks of simultaneous compression and rebound. Custom rates and Swift Springs available. Camber plates standard on applicable kits. Two-year warranty.

DS Series: Track-Day BC Racing Coilovers with Digressive Damping

The DS Series is the BC Racing pick for drivers who want track-day capability without committing to a race-only BC Racing coilovers setup. The proprietary digressive piston design produces increased damping force at low piston velocities while keeping a linear feel at higher velocities. The car resists roll, pitch, dive, and quick weight transitions much more than linear-damped coilovers. That is exactly what you want in chicanes and on autocross courses.

DS Series specs: Mono-tube digressive piston. Satin chrome shock body. 30 clicks of simultaneous damping. Custom spring rates available. Front camber plates standard. Two-year warranty.

ER Series: Twin-Piston BC Racing Coilovers with External Reservoirs

The ER Series is the next step up in the BC Racing lineup. Large external reservoirs front and rear, independently adjustable rebound and compression, mono-tube twin-piston design. The reservoirs add oil capacity, which means faster heat dissipation during extended track sessions. The reservoirs also house the secondary piston, which enables compression adjustment separate from rebound.

For drivers who want to dial in their BC Racing coilovers by varying compression and rebound separately, the ER Series is the right kit.

ER Series specs: Mono-tube twin-piston damper. 30 clicks compression at the reservoir. 30 clicks rebound at the top of the damper. Custom valving paired to spring rates. Front and rear camber plates standard on applicable kits. Two-year warranty.

HM Series: Inverted BC Racing Coilovers for Demanding Track Use

The HM Series combines the inverted mono-tube design of the RM Series with the two-way damping adjustment of the ER Series. Inverted dampers move fluid away from heat sources, which avoids damper fade under heavy track use. The inverted design also reduces unsprung weight.

HM Series ships with Swift Springs. This is the BC Racing pick for serious club racers and time-attack drivers running extended track sessions.

HM Series specs: Inverted mono-tube twin-piston damper. Swift Springs standard. 30 clicks compression at reservoir, 30 clicks rebound at damper. Custom valving paired to spring rates. Camber plates standard on applicable kits. Two-year warranty.

RM Series: Inverted-Damper BC Racing Coilovers, Linear Tune

The RM Series is the inverted version of the BR Series. Same linear damping curve and same 30-click adjustment as the BR Series, in an inverted mono-tube package. The RM Series handles high lateral loads more efficiently than the BR Series and offers better durability under extended track use. RM Series is for drivers who want BR Series tunability with track-grade hardware.

RM Series specs: Inverted mono-tube shock. Linear damping curve. 30 clicks of simultaneous compression and rebound. Custom rates and Swift Springs available. Camber plates standard on applicable kits. Two-year warranty.

ZR Series: Three-Way Adjustable BC Racing Coilovers for Pro Racing

The ZR Series brings three-way adjustable, track-ready BC Racing coilovers at a price point that has not existed before. Each ZR Series kit offers 30 clicks of rebound, 15 clicks of low-speed compression, and 12 clicks of high-speed compression, all independent.

On MacPherson-strut cars, the ZR Series uses inverted mono-tube dampers with steel-braided lines that exit the top of the damper to the external reservoir. On double A-arm cars, the ZR Series uses upright dampers with the line exiting the bottom. Reservoirs can be remote-mounted for easy adjustment between sessions.

ZR Series ships standard with Swift Springs. This is the top of the BC Racing range, well above the BR Series.

ZR Series specs: Inverted mono-tube twin-piston damper. Swift Springs standard. 30 clicks rebound, 15 clicks low-speed compression, 12 clicks high-speed compression, all independent. Custom valving paired to spring rates. Camber plates standard on applicable kits. Two-year warranty.

Custom Spring Rates and Swift Springs Upgrade for BC Racing Coilovers

Every BC Racing coilovers series supports custom spring rates at order time. If you have modified your car, or are building for drag, autocross, or time attack, custom rates on your BC Racing coilovers are recommended. Standard rates are tuned during BC Racing's testing for a balance of lowering, performance, and ride comfort. We recommend the standard rates on most BC Racing coilovers for street builds.

The Swift Springs upgrade is available on most BC Racing kits, including the BR Series. Swift uses a proprietary alloy. The springs are top of the line in motorsport. Compared to standard BC Racing springs, Swift Springs offer a more consistent rate through the stroke. They also provide larger usable stroke, higher resistance to height loss, and a faster response with less weight.

BC Racing's standard springs are good. Swift Springs are top of the line.

Frequently Asked Questions About BC Racing Coilovers

Is there a warranty on BC Racing coilovers? Yes. BC Racing North America currently lists a two-year limited warranty on full kit orders, subject to its warranty terms. Coverage applies to manufacturing defects, not improper installation or adjustment. Claims go through BC Racing NA.

Can I rebuild my BC Racing coilovers? Yes. BC Racing coilovers are fully rebuildable, and replacement parts are available. Coilovers.com does not sell rebuild parts. A licensed mechanic can rebuild your BC Racing coilovers once you source the parts.

What is the Swift Springs upgrade? Swift Springs are upgraded springs from the standard BC Racing springs, made from Swift's proprietary alloy. Many customers report improved ride quality. Standard BC Racing springs are good. Swift Springs are top of the line.

What are rear extenders? Rear extenders are metal cables that attach to the damping knobs on the rear coilovers and run through the trunk. They help if you expect difficulty reaching the rear top hats.

Standard vs extreme low BC Racing coilovers, what is the difference? Standard BC Racing coilovers start at approximately 1 inch below stock height at maximum, with another 2 to 3 inches of drop available. Extreme low coilovers use shortened shock bodies and springs to allow the car to sit lower. Extreme low starts at approximately 2 inches below stock at maximum, with the same additional drop range.

What is "extreme by default"? Some cars sit very low from the factory, so an extreme low version is not safe to manufacture. Only the standard kit is offered. The standard kit lowers those cars like an extreme low would on a normal car.

What spring rates should I choose? Higher rates produce a stiffer ride and may limit how low you can drop. The standard rates BC Racing assigns are tuned for a balanced street-and-occasional-track build. We recommend them for most customers. Modified or higher-demand builds may need custom rates.

Is the spring preload set? Yes, BC Racing sets preload at the factory. If a spring becomes loose, tighten the lower spring seat until snug, then lock the lower seat and locking collar. Dealer guidance commonly states that spring compression should not exceed 5mm.

What are the benefits of pillowball mounts? Pillowball mounts produce a stiffer ride for track use, allow easier camber setting, and eliminate play in the rubber bushings. Downsides are increased cabin noise and a maintenance requirement.

Shipping box size? Most BC Racing kits ship in a box around 30 by 18 by 9 inches. Kit weight typically ranges from 35 to 70 pounds depending on the application.

Do BC Racing coilovers work for rally? No. BC Racing coilovers are designed for on-road and hard-track performance.

Recommendations based on my wheel size? No. Tire and wheel fitment involves too many variables for a useful spring-rate recommendation.
