KW Suspension builds coilovers in Fichtenberg, Germany, and that origin matters. Every kit in the V1, V2, and V3 lineup is hand-assembled at KW's German headquarters, then TÜV-certified. Each one is validated on the same 7-post drive dynamics test rig that Formula 1 teams use. You are not buying a kit assembled from generic components. You are buying the product KW engineers sign off on.
We are an authorized USA dealer. Current stock includes KW kits for BMW, WRX and STI, VW GTI and Golf R, Honda Civic, Porsche, Mazda MX-5, and Toyota GR86. Hundreds of other fitments available. Free shipping on most kits in the US. Questions? Call 1-800-460-9106.
Why KW Coilovers
KW's reputation sits on three things: German engineering, INOX-Line stainless steel construction, and a lifetime warranty with unlimited mileage. Those three are not marketing language. They are structural commitments built into how KW makes the product.
The INOX-Line struts are machined from stainless steel that does not rust or corrode. Other coilovers use chrome or powder-coat finishes that wear off when you adjust ride height. KW's stainless steel does not wear off. You can adjust the collar 200 times and the threads still turn clean. Paired with the friction-optimized trapezoidal threads and polyamide composite spring seats, KW builds adjustability that stays adjustable.
The TÜV certification on KW kits is the German federal technical inspection standard. It covers suspension safety, lowering range compliance, and durability requirements for European OEM cars. Every KW kit ships with a technical component report that outlines the approved lowering range and installation guidelines for your specific platform. That document is the engineering sign-off. It tells you exactly how far KW certifies your car can go.
KW also supplies factory OEM suspension to Porsche, BMW M, and Mercedes-AMG. The same company making those platforms' stock suspension is making your aftermarket kit. That is a short sentence worth reading twice.
The KW Coilover Lineup: V1, V2, and V3
KW builds three street coilover variants. Each one raises the level of damping adjustability without stepping away from the ride feel KW is known for. Here is how they stack.
KW Variant 1 (V1): Street Performance, Factory-Set Damping

The KW V1 is the entry point into KW's coilover lineup, and entry point does not mean compromise. KW engineers tune the damping for each specific vehicle application at the Fichtenberg facility. You get a balanced, sporty feel dialed in from the factory. No guesswork, no clicks to figure out.
Height adjustment runs between 1 and 3 inches below stock on most platforms, within KW's certified lowering range. The dirt-resistant trapezoidal threads and composite adjustment collars make that adjustment easy, even years into ownership.
The V1 is the right kit if you want a meaningful handling upgrade over stock without adding setup complexity to your daily. It sits on INOX-Line stainless steel struts, ships with corrosion-resistant springs, and carries the lifetime warranty.
V1 key specs:
- Height adjustable: 1-3 inches below stock (platform-specific)
- Damping: factory-set, optimized per-car by KW engineers
- Construction: INOX-Line stainless steel struts
- Spring seat: polyamide composite with stainless steel insert
- Thread: friction-optimized trapezoidal

KW Variant 2 (V2): 16-Click Rebound Adjustment

The KW V2 adds rebound adjustability. Sixteen precise clicks let you move between more comfort on rough pavement and more body control on a canyon road. KW sets the mid-range position at the factory, so out of the box it already feels right. The clicks give you room to move in either direction.
Compression damping on the V2 is factory-tuned by KW engineers and not user-adjustable. That is a deliberate decision: KW's compression tune is calibrated to the spring rate and the platform. Letting users adjust compression independently without also adjusting the spring rate creates problems. The V2 solves rebound independently, which is where most street driving adjustability lives.
The V2 uses the same INOX-Line stainless steel construction and trapezoidal threads as the V1, plus KW's patented TVR-A twin-valve rebound technology. TVR-A runs a small oil bypass at low piston speeds and opens the main rebound valve at higher speeds. The result is better ride comfort on slow-speed bumps without any loss of high-speed stability.
V2 key specs:
- Height adjustable: 1-3 inches below stock (platform-specific)
- Rebound: 16-click adjustment (TVR-A twin-valve technology)
- Compression: factory-tuned by KW engineers
- Construction: INOX-Line stainless steel struts
- Warranty: lifetime, unlimited mileage
- Includes: TÜV technical component report

KW Variant 3 (V3): Independent Compression and Rebound Adjustment

The KW V3 is the flagship. It is the kit most of our KW customers end up on. It is also the kit we lead with in every conversation about KW coilover suspension.
The V3 gives you independent control over compression and rebound. That distinction matters more than any spec sheet can convey. On a V1 or V2, stiffening for track use also affects how the car handles bumps at low speeds. On a V3, you can raise compression damping for harder cornering and leave rebound where it is. You can tighten the front compression and leave the rear softer. You are tuning a car, not turning a single dial up.
The V3 runs 16 clicks of rebound (TVR-A technology) and 12 clicks of independent compression (TVC-A twin-valve compression). Both systems use KW's patented two-stage valve architecture: a bypass valve handles low-speed flow and the main valve opens under higher piston speeds. The practical result is that you can firm up the car for a track day without making it punishing on the street.
The V3 also measurably reduces pitch and roll under braking, acceleration, and hard cornering. Braking distance shortens. Turn-in sharpens. These are the safety benefits KW specifically tested on the 7-post rig and documented in the technical component report.
V3 key specs:
- Height adjustable: 1-3 inches below stock (platform-specific)
- Rebound: 16-click independent adjustment (TVR-A twin-valve)
- Compression: 12-click independent adjustment (TVC-A twin-valve)
- Construction: INOX-Line stainless steel struts
- Optional: reservoir for high-demand applications
- Warranty: lifetime, unlimited mileage
- Includes: TÜV technical component report

V1 vs. V2 vs. V3: Which KW Is Right for You
The three variants share the same INOX-Line construction, the same trapezoidal threads, the same composite spring seat, and the same lifetime warranty. What changes is damping adjustability. Here is the short version:
- KW V1: Factory-set damping. Height-adjustable only. The right pick for a street car where you want KW quality and proper lowering without managing clicks. Reliable, simple, excellent.
- KW V2: 16 clicks of rebound adjustment. Compression is factory-tuned. The right pick if you want to tune between more comfort and more body control depending on how you are driving that week.
- KW V3: 16 clicks rebound, 12 clicks compression, both independent. The right pick if you want full setup flexibility, run the car on track, or want to dial in the front and rear differently. Most performance buyers end up here.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between KW V1, V2, and V3 coilovers?
All three share INOX-Line stainless steel construction, trapezoidal threads, composite spring seats, and a lifetime warranty. The difference is damping control. The V1 has factory-set damping and height adjustment only. The V2 adds 16 clicks of rebound adjustment. The V3 adds 16 clicks of rebound plus 12 clicks of compression, both independently adjustable.
Do KW coilovers come with a warranty?
Yes. KW Automotive North America offers a lifetime warranty on all coilover kits, with unlimited mileage. Kits can be sent to KW for service, rebuild, or repair. Contact KW Automotive North America for warranty claims.
How much will KW coilovers lower my car?
Lowering range varies by platform but runs 1 to 2.5 inches below stock on most cars. Every KW kit ships with a technical component report specific to your car. That report gives you the approved lowering range in writing.
Are KW coilovers good for street and track?
The V2 and V3 are well-suited to both. The V3 is the pick for cars that see track days. The independent compression and rebound adjustment lets you dial in for track without making the car punishing on the street drive home.
What is INOX-Line?
INOX-Line is KW's term for their stainless steel strut construction. Unlike chrome or coated struts that wear when you adjust ride height, KW's stainless steel does not corrode or wear off. It is one of the reasons KW can back the product with a lifetime warranty.
Does KW make the Street Comfort and DDC lines?
Yes. KW also makes the Street Comfort line (softer tune, comfort-first daily-driver application) and the DDC system (app-controlled electronic damping). For pricing and availability on those lines, call us at 1-800-460-9106.
