Why Drivers Choose Ohlins
Ohlins occupies a distinct place in the performance coilover market. The Swedish company has spent more than five decades engineering racing-derived dampers, starting in motorcycle road racing and Formula 1 before bringing the same engineering philosophy to high-end automotive applications. Ohlins is the choice when racing pedigree and premium-platform ride compliance matter more than absolute affordability.
The customers who buy Ohlins coilovers from us share a common profile. They drive Porsche 911s, BMW M cars, Audi R8s, and similar premium-tier platforms where the factory suspension is already very good. They want an aftermarket coilover that improves on the factory engineering without giving up the daily-driver compliance that makes these cars worth owning. They want a brand with motorsport credibility they can verify. Ohlins delivers all three.
The technical signature of the Ohlins lineup is the TTX twin-tube damper architecture. TTX stands for Twin Tube — a design that separates the compression and rebound oil flow into independent circuits inside the damper body. The result is more consistent damping force through long sessions, better resistance to fade under track use, and more linear damper response across the full stroke than conventional twin-tube or monotube designs. The TTX architecture is the same engineering Ohlins runs in their MotoGP and World Superbike programs, scaled to automotive use.
The Ohlins Lineup
Ohlins's automotive lineup is organized into three primary lines plus a parts and accessories catalog. Below is what each line actually does.
Ohlins Road & Track — The Volume-Seller
The Road & Track (often abbreviated R&T) is the Ohlins kit we ship most. It's engineered for the driver who runs the car hard on canyon roads and weekend tracks but daily drives the same car the rest of the time. The Road & Track uses the TTX twin-tube damper architecture with single-adjustment damping — 20 clicks that adjust compression and rebound together — and a coil-over spring matched to the chassis at the factory.
Ride height is fully adjustable through the threaded shock body without changing spring preload. Front camber-adjustable upper mounts are standard on most fitments. The Road & Track is the right pick for premium-platform owners who want a single kit that handles street, canyon, and track-day duty without compromise.
Road & Track coverage in our catalog runs deepest on Porsche (911 across multiple generations, Cayman, Boxster, 718 GT4), BMW (M3 across E9X through G80, M4, Z4 G29), Audi (RS3, RS4, R8), and growing coverage on Japanese chassis including the Toyota GR Supra and the Subaru BRZ.
Ohlins TTX Pro — Track-Focused, Independent Two-Way Adjustment
The TTX Pro adds independent compression and rebound adjustment to the TTX twin-tube platform. Compression and rebound adjust on separate circuits with 16 clicks of compression and 20 clicks of rebound. The kit is engineered for track-focused builds where the driver wants to dial in suspension behavior to each circuit's specific demands without compromising one for the other.
TTX Pro fitments in the active catalog include the BMW M3 (E9X), Audi R8 (both generations), and select Porsche applications. The line is intentionally narrow — Ohlins engineers TTX Pro specifically for the platforms where it makes sense, not as a universal upgrade. If you're building a track car on a platform where TTX Pro fits, this is the kit Ohlins built for that purpose.
Ohlins DFV Dedicated — Dual Flow Valve Technology
The DFV Dedicated line uses Ohlins's Dual Flow Valve technology, a damper design that provides distinct damping characteristics at low piston speeds versus high piston speeds. Low-speed control governs roll, dive, and squat behavior — the body motions a driver wants tightly controlled. High-speed control governs how the damper handles sharp inputs like road seams and curbs — the inputs a driver wants the suspension to absorb rather than transmit to the chassis. DFV separates these two regimes through dedicated valve circuits.
DFV Dedicated coverage focuses on platforms where the DFV behavior pairs well with the chassis character — particularly Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman, BMW E9X 3 Series in Spec E9X spec, and select other applications. Like TTX Pro, the DFV line is engineered for specific chassis rather than offered universally.
Ohlins Parts, Accessories, and Cancellation Kits
Beyond the coilover lines, the Ohlins catalog includes a substantial parts and accessories range. Cancellation kits for cars with factory electronic damping — BMW EDC, Mercedes ADS, Acura ADS, and similar systems — let owners run Ohlins coilovers on platforms originally equipped with adaptive suspension. Replacement components including shock mounts, top hats, springs, and rebuild parts are stocked for the full range. If you have an existing Ohlins kit that needs service parts, call us and we'll source through Ohlins's North American distribution.
Ohlins' coilover lineup is built around a few core platforms. The flagship street-and-track platform is the Ohlins Road and Track coilover (also searched as Ohlins Road Track, Ohlins Road & Track coilovers, Ohlins R&T, and Ohlins road and track coilovers) — the road-going lineage of Ohlins' motorsport damping technology. The Ohlins DFV (Dual Flow Valve) platform delivers digressive piston damping and is also searched as Ohlins DFV coilovers. The Ohlins TTX motorsport line — the original twin-tube architecture that gives the TTX its name — appears in customer searches as Ohlins TTX shock, Ohlins TTX Pro, and similar variant phrasings.
Ohlins Coilovers by Make
Ohlins's catalog runs deepest on the platforms where premium-tier aftermarket coilovers sell best.
Porsche — 38 fitments. The deepest single-make Ohlins coverage we carry. 911 across multiple generations (991, 992 including Carrera, Turbo, GTS, and GT4-excluded variants), 718 Boxster and Cayman (981 and 982 generations), Cayenne, Macan, and Panamera. The Road & Track is the most common Porsche pick, with DFV Dedicated on platforms where it's offered.
BMW — 31 fitments. M3 across E9X, F8X, and G80 generations. M4 across F82 and G82. M2, the Z4 G29, and broader 1, 2, 3, and 4 Series coverage. TTX Pro is available on E9X M3 specifically. Most BMW builds run Road & Track.
Audi — 20 fitments. RS3, RS4, RS5, RS6, RS7, and the R8 V8 and V10 platforms. The R8 has TTX Pro coverage for both first and second generation. S3, S4, and S5 platforms are covered with Road & Track.
Volkswagen — 9 fitments. Golf R and GTI across MK7 and MK8 generations.
Japanese platforms — Growing coverage. Toyota GR Supra (A90), Mazda Miata (ND), Nissan 370Z and GT-R, Subaru BRZ (both 2013-2020 and 2022+), Honda Civic Type R, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
American and other — Ford Mustang, Mini Cooper (F55/F56/F57), and additional platforms. Ohlins coverage on American platforms is narrower than European, but specific high-demand fitments are stocked.

How Ohlins Compares to Other Brands We Carry
Coilovers.com is an authorized dealer for several premium-tier suspension brands. Each brand has its right buyer.
Ohlins vs KW Suspension: Both occupy the premium European-engineering tier. KW's V3 and Clubsport lineup runs deeper on the multi-click adjustment side, particularly for European chassis where KW's OEM-supplier work shapes the aftermarket calibration. Ohlins leads on the racing-derived TTX engineering and the premium-platform compliance that platforms like the Porsche 911 reward. Both are excellent choices on premium chassis. The buyer choice often comes down to whether the driver wants German engineering pedigree or Swedish racing pedigree.
Ohlins vs Bilstein Performance: Both are OEM-supplier-credible brands. Bilstein's monotube architecture and B14 PSS factory-calibrated approach appeal to drivers who want the engineer's tune without driver adjustment. Ohlins's TTX twin-tube architecture and adjustable Road & Track approach appeal to drivers who want tunable racing-derived damping. The two brands often compete on the same Porsche, BMW, and Audi platforms with different philosophies.
Ohlins vs BC Racing: Different price tiers, different design philosophies. BC Racing's BR Series and higher deliver 30-click damping at a value-tier price point. Ohlins delivers TTX twin-tube engineering with motorsport pedigree at a premium price point. The buyer choice depends on price tier and on whether the driver wants the kit calibrated for premium-platform ride compliance or the kit calibrated for broad-platform performance flexibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Ohlins coilovers worth the price?
For owners of premium platforms — Porsche, BMW M, Audi RS, and similar — yes. The TTX twin-tube damper engineering delivers ride character and track durability that justifies the premium pricing for buyers running these cars hard. For owners of less-premium platforms where the chassis can't fully express what Ohlins is engineered to deliver, value-tier coilover brands typically offer comparable real-world performance at lower price points.
What's the difference between Road & Track, TTX Pro, and DFV Dedicated?
Road & Track is the single-adjustment TTX kit engineered for street and track use. TTX Pro adds independent compression and rebound adjustment for track-focused builds. DFV Dedicated uses Ohlins's Dual Flow Valve technology with distinct low-speed and high-speed damping characteristics, engineered for specific chassis where the DFV behavior pairs well with the platform.
Will Ohlins coilovers work with my car's electronic damping?
Ohlins offers cancellation kits for most major factory electronic damping systems — BMW EDC, Mercedes ADS, Acura ADS, and others. The cancellation kit lets the car run Ohlins coilovers without dashboard warning lights or error codes. Each fitment page notes which cancellation kit is required for that specific chassis. Call us before ordering if your car has factory adaptive suspension.
How long do Ohlins coilovers last?
Street-driven Ohlins kits routinely run 60,000 miles or more between rebuilds. Track-driven kits depend on track conditions and event frequency, but the TTX damper architecture holds up to consistent track use as well as any aftermarket brand. Ohlins offers rebuild service through their North American distribution for the life of the kit.
Where are Ohlins coilovers made?
Ohlins is headquartered in Upplands Väsby, Sweden, and engineering and manufacturing happen at the Swedish facility. North American technical support and warranty service are handled through Ohlins USA.
Do I need a wheel alignment after installing Ohlins coilovers?
Yes. After installing any coilover kit, a four-wheel alignment is essential. The new ride height changes camber, toe, and caster geometry. Skipping the alignment causes uneven tire wear and degraded handling. Plan the alignment as part of the install job.
